In the stillness
Posted: May 25th, 2010 | Author: Sandy | Filed under: Uncategorized |I had forgotten how peaceful it is to wake early (4:30 am!) and enjoy the stillness and quiet of the day dawning. I have longed to have this time with the Lord… yet never make it a priority enough to sit here and really hear from the Lord in the newness of a day. I am usually up running, children scurrying, breakfast making, schedule arranging etc. You know?… the same day to day routine of probably most households.
Today’s JESUS CALLING by Sarah Young reads:
THE WORLD IS TOO MUCH WITH YOU, My child. Your mind leaps from problem to problem to problem, tangling your thoughts in anxious knots. When you think like that, you leave Me out of your world-view and your mind becomes darkened. Though I yearn to help, I will not violate your freedom. I stand silently in the background of your mind, waiting for you to remember that I am with you.
When you turn from your problems to My Presence, your load is immediately lighter. Circumstances may not have changed, but we carry your burdens together. Your compulsion to “fix” everything gives way to deep, satisfying connection with Me. Together we can handle whatever this day brings.
Zeph 3:17 The Message
Your God is present among you,
a strong Warrior there to save you.
Happy to have you back, he’ll calm you with his love
and delight you with his songs.
I pray often, and as a busy working mom, I find many times that my prayers are scattered throughout the day. This I have come to learn is wonderful, because it keeps me connected the the Lord throughout my whole day! However, I want more, and if getting up in the stillness of each new day before everyone else is the answer, then I will be getting less sleep!
